bigcommerce must be called smallcommerce, is mainly for people who sell 5 products or less or do this for a hobby, interspire is much better, with bigcommerce you spend millions in seo and dev and one day, like they did in last upgrade, they change the url structure and destroy all the work done, they also have pretty bad issues with https and tax rules, interespired is much better.

thanks for the updates. My apologies for not getting back to you, I am having some serious computer problems.

In regard to the canonical URL element that has been included by Interspire, you definitely want to remove it as it causes a couple of problems (as you have already found out). When I get my voice recognition working again I will put together a post about what to do.

Just to close the loop and for others that may follow, removing the extra reference I noted appears to solve the duplicate title tags problem and Google’s duplicates are already drastically reduced after just a few days and the module is again free to do its work.

Duplicates took a jump up again so I have removed the extra reference in Panel.HTML.head which I have to believe is causing the issue.

Lol, talking to myself and yeah, it’s in lib/template.php setting the tplCanonicalLink and because it uses str_replace in the titles used you end up with apostrophes in the link.

Now my final question is do I need to do anything about this bad duplication or will Google, etc. just figure out the right canonical link?

I would probably just remove the reference totally from the Panel.HTMLhead.html but for now it appears that your modules categories canonical URL is not showing up on my category pages for some reason.

Sorry, I may be mistaken. Now I see what appears to be your code correct but before that there is another canonical link with apostrophes that I’m guessing comes from ISC somewhere…of to search.

Module is humming along, can’t believe how many URLs are now restricted thanks to you! Pretty great. Thanks for this and again for the “sneaky” tip.

Now I know it takes time but I have duplicates in Google for a LOT of product URLs and though I can be patient I do note that the canonical link in the source doesn’t have double quotes and instead reads:

Don’t think it makes a difference but I don’t see it with single quotes anywhere else so worth asking in the remote case it’s an issue and since it’s different from all other source.
